Mrs. Cockrell has worked with students, families, educators, administrators, and community members within the public school system. She served as a professional development facilitator, school-wide testing coordinator, special education support staff, and an intervention specialist. In her primary role as a Professional School Counselor, she works with students in K-12 schools providing direct services to students in the following areas: social-emotional, career and academic development.

She began her career in California, as a Mental Health Counselor, where she had the privilege of providing direct services to students through crisis intervention, small group, and individual counseling. She also worked collaboratively with other educators and stakeholders to provide equitable services to all students. In partnership with other school counselors, Mrs. Cockrell strived to increase parent engagement through the facilitation of parenting support classes, as well as facilitated district-wide Crisis Prevention and Intervention© training to all educators. 

In recognition of the work she did for students and the school community, Mrs. Cockrell was awarded School Counselor of the Year during the 2020-2021 school year!

Mrs. Cockrell dedicated the past 10 years to the personal and professional development of essential skills so she can continue to be an asset to her students. Through Persist Education Services, Mrs. Cockrell continues to work in partnership with families to improve students' educational outcomes. And while education is the gateway, life-long learning and success is the ultimate achievement! Mrs. Cockrell focuses on developing the skills students need to be productive members in our community!
